Did You Know?
In an effort to spread the “Good News” about OMA and our students, we are introducing the “Did You Know?” section to our weekly update. It is our hope that you will share this information with your friends and neighbors as we better educate our community of the benefits of an OMA education.
SACS/CASI Accreditation – What it means to our students.
A school's commitment to accreditation assures parents and the community that the school is focused on raising student achievement, providing a safe and enriching learning environment, and maintaining an efficient and effective operation. An accredited school adheres to high quality standards based on the latest research and successful professional practices.
Students who attend a school accredited by NCA CASI or SACS CASI can rest assured that the school is committed to raising student performance and held accountable for improving student learning on a continual basis.
Accreditation means that students have:
- Qualified teachers who are continually working to improve their practices and teaching methods in order to increase student performance
- Access to a rich, diverse, and sound curriculum
- Access to a range of student activities and support services
- Transferability of credits from school to school
- Greater access to federal loans, scholarships, post secondary education, and military programs that require accreditation
The school credits that students earn at an NCA CASI/SACS CASI accredited school are recognized by schools, colleges, and universities globally. Through AdvancED's reciprocal agreements with sister accrediting organizations, students can continue their educational goals in the United States or around the world.

Kaplan Course
Time is running out for us to be able to host the Kaplan Course on the OMA campus. We need to have ten (10) completed registrants for Kaplan instructors to conduct the ten sessions for our children. The cost is $499.00. The Registration Form is available below.
Many parents have indicated a desire for their child to receive this training to prep for the SAT, but we need to finalize our Registration Forms to secure our time slot.
Previous OMA students have greatly benefited from this instruction, and I know you don’t want your child to miss out on this convenient opportunity.
The course starts on Saturday, September 18 through Wednesday November 3. Please see the schedule (available below) for your review.
If you have not submitted your Registration Form, and you want your child to participate in this course, please take a moment, now, to complete your registration form (available below).
Again, it is critical that we complete our registration of ten students to finalize a commitment from Kaplan so they will have time to mail the course materials in advance of the sessions.
You need to reply back to me so we can determine how many OMA students will be participating.
The Kaplan Course is a wonderful opportunity for our students, and they guarantee that any student completing the course will increase their score by 100 points, or it is free.
I look forward to a quick response, and I am available to answer questions at my cell number listed below.
Thank you,
Judy Young

School Messenger
OMA uses the School Messenger system to alert families of school closings and other important information. Everyone who has completed the Student Information Sheet on file will receive a telephone message when the need arises. When you receive a call from OMA’s School Messenger, please be aware that there is a slight delay before the message is played. This is a very important communication tool for our school; please make sure that the Administrative Office has your correct telephone number(s) on file. If you are unsure, please contact Angel Douglas at (770)834-6651 or by email at

Warrior Booster Club Meeting
Marnie Lipham, Booster Club president, invites you to attend the Booster Club meeting this evening beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Richards’ Administrative Building cafeteria (room 132). Everyone is invited to attend and get involved in all of the exciting activities coming up this year.
Volleyball:
The volleyball season has started and the girls are playing well. The JV team was beaten by Mt. Vernon on Monday 2-1 and the varsity team lost their match 3-0 but won due to an eligible 7th grader playing on the varsity team. On Tuesday of this week, the middle school team was victorious over Griffin Christian 2-1, the JV girls lost 2-1 and the varsity team lost a close match series 3-1.
Softball:
The varsity girls’ team has played two games this season. They opened up against Flint River Academy in Woodbury on Monday and lost 8-4. On Tuesday, they traveled to LaGrange to play those other Warriors and unfortunately lost 8-0 to a very talented LGA team. The girls travel to Newnan on Saturday to play in the Heritage Invitational with games against Heritage at 10:00 a.m. and Calvary Christian at 11:30 a.m.
Boys Soccer:
The boys traveled to Macon on Tuesday to play Central Fellowship Christian Academy and lost 5-1. Their first home game is Friday (8/20) against region foe Furtah Prep. The game starts at 4:30 p.m. here on the mountain.
Cross Country:
The varsity and middle school teams have been practicing hard this week as they get back into shape and fight the heat. Their first meet is in early September.
